In my quest to design the perfect workout programme for myself (i.e. one I can do at home, in a gym, outdoors, and while travelling) I ended up developing a portable gym consisting of a set of heavy resistance bands and a resistance band barbell that doubles-up as a pull-up bar.

These are photos of my first prototype, which I use on a daily basis, but I am now accepting pre-orders from people in South Africa. Once 10 people have pre-ordered, I will order the materials and other items for each set.
What's included in each resistance band barbell set?
- 1 x Resistance band barbell (doubles-up as pull-up bar)
- 1 x Red resistance band (roughly 7-16kg tension)
- 1 x Black resistance band (roughly 11-30kg tension)
- 1 x Purple resistance band (roughly 16-39kg tension)
- 1 x Green resistance band (roughly 23-57kg tension)
- 1 x Latex coated gloves (useful when not using the barbell)
- 1 x Door anchor (useful when at home or travelling)
- 1 x Drawstring bag to keep everything together
The bands can be stacked in different combinations to achieve your desired load. Altogether, these bands can produce up to 140kg worth of tension – more than enough to replace an entire free weight section of a gym.
